I am delighted to say that Chelsea Heritage Quarter has been awarded the Highly Commended prize by the Chelsea In Bloom judging panel! The display features my commissioned sculpture of Poseidon and two horses.
There were 145 entries with prizes for Best Floral Display, Highly Commended and Innovation Award.

In April 2026 I was commissioned to create driftwood sculptures of Poseidon and two seahorses for the Chelsea Heritage Quarter display at Chelsea In Bloom. The installation was designed by Daniela Lane, the winner of a competition for floristry students at Capel Manor College, and supported by Head of Floristry, Louise Quigley.
The competition invited students to create a sustainable floral installation for the 2026 theme of “Out of this World”. I was then asked to create the sculptures with the sea and waves being added by the floristry team from sustainable plant and floral materials. The installation outside the National Army Museum was completed over the weekend before the opening of Chelsea In Bloom on 18th May.

The seahorses were designed to fit the unusual shape of the planter so that the floral element would create the effect of a chariot emerging from the waves.

The Garden of Oddities is a new addition to the Frugaldom project. The sculptures are made of a variety of salvaged, recycled or repurposed materials including beach debris and old wellington boots. Several familiar characters including the Tin Man and the Deepsea Diver have been relocated from other areas of the project.

There have been several new additions to the sculptures on display at the Frugaldom project in 2025 to take the total past sixty. The most recent arrivals are the driftwood sculptures of Poseidon and Epona. A reclining Selkie is now beside the pond while sculptures of woodland spirits and The Embrace now feature in the Herb garden.
The Frugaldom project is now in its twelfth year with the former forestry land now transformed with the planting of around 15,000 native trees. This has attracted a wide variety of wildlife including badgers, owls, adders and the endangered pine marten.
The site is now open all year round to visiting campervans and motorhomes (for full details search “Frugaldom”). We are always looking for volunteers to help us maintain and develop the project. The Four Horses of Frugaldom were moved on site in August 2024; Truth, Honesty, Integrity and Respect. Each horse is around 8ft from nose to tail and they are created from driftwood collected locally. The horses are in full flight over a large wave which is being constructed from salvaged wood.
The four horses are riderless, demonstrating freedom derived from truth, honesty, integrity and respect. Never be led by the unjust. You have the freedom to choose your own path, no matter what obstacles have to be overcome.

The tragic loss of the Golden Eagle named Merrick in the Borders last October inspired me to create a sculpture in memory of the bird. Merrick was lost in suspicious circumstances and it seemed appropriate with our project in sight of The Merrick in the Galloway Hills.
On a happier note, we have been delighted to discover the presence of Pine Martens at the project which is now in year ten. Considering we started with one tree and very little in the way of ground cover, it is a vindication of our rewilding efforts. I have celebrated this with two sculptures of “Three Spot”, named after the distinctive spots on his bib.
The most recent series of driftwood commissions included a family of deer destined for Northern Ireland. They were accompanied by an owl, a badger, a fox and a red squirrel. The delighted customer kindly sent the photographs of the sculptures as soon as they had been installed on site.
Meanwhile, work continues at Frugaldom where a driftwood archway now welcomes visitors to the secret garden. It is adourned with animal sculptures and woodland figures. Three driftwood runner ducks now patrol the fence-line and visitors will find a hand-crafted Fairy Kingdom inside the garden.
My commissioned sculptures of St. Thomas a Becket, Adi Shankara and William Shakespeare were safely delivered to the IMOS Foundation in December and have now taken up residence at the Hope All Saints Sculpture Park in Romney Marsh, Kent.
A Commission for a Belted Galloway cow and calf was also completed over Christmas 2022.

Several new sculptures have been created for our on-going project at Frugaldom in Dumfries & Galloway. The rewilding project also acts as a sanctuary and aire with over forty of my sculptures now on display.
Recent additions include these woodland spirits, created from driftwood. They are now fixed to trees in garden areas at the entrance to Frugaldom.
This wizard or hobbit stands about 3 feet tall. He was made using discarded material that had been left at the site.
There are two resident goats at Frugaldom and this is the second sculpture inspired by their arrival just over one year ago.

Following on from the sculptures for the Loch Arkaig art trail, I was delighted to be commissioned for a series of four driftwood animal sculptures for the Achnacarry Estate. These were approached in much the same way as the Loch Arkaig project, completing all four in around 6 weeks. Hopefully the sculptures will be on public display at both sites before the end of the summer.
